The Steps for a successful and effective training

 

 

Working in the Hospitality sector, in order to offer the highest service quality, is necessary to have both skills and knowledge. All details are important. It required to be able to carry out all the duties and working in a professional TEAM.

WHY DO

The purpose of this first step, is to explain the theory of why we proceed to make the operations or practical activities in a work place in that particular way, rather than another.

Sometimes people are unable to fully execute some operations or practical activities because they may spend their time trying to understand why they must proceed following a particular schema.

A simple example could be, the duty of room cleaning in a hotel or hospitality environment. For who may do this job for the first time, will have a different approach of how to complete those tasks in personal way rather than a standard professional one. Most likely will reflect his/her personal cleaning and tidying technique developed in their home environment.

Understanding why standard procedures are in place is crucial to get to the next step.

 

HOW DO

This step is the first visualisation of how those practical activities must be carried out but still in a verbal way. Step by step using images or hands out explaining how things have to be done.

 

I DO

Now is the moment for the trainee to show how practically the operations has to be done. Students can now see visually and in a practical way how the operations have to be carried out. During this step, they will receive a practical demonstration of actions, behaviour technique, and sequences of actions that must be carried out and in which way. The student can now formulate practical questions.

 

WE DO

Student get their hands on,on  the training process, now putting to practice all the theoretical knowledge, but still under trainee supervision. They now can develop their practical skills while their instructor is still answering their question and developing their skills.

 

YOU DO

Now students must proof their skills and competences, demonstrating that they fully understood how to carry out all the required activities in a professional way. They must proof to be understood not only how to follow the operation’s schemas, how to carry out the operations and be able to manage them with confidence and professionalism.

They must proof to be able to work positively and professionally in a TEAM WORK, managing people and activity with confidence and successfully.
